Since 2003, a new area appears on the internet sphere. Actually, the « online world » create brand new types of relationships and ways of meeting people. It breaks all the former traditional ways of breaking the ice, welcoming an easy and quick way of getting to know random and unknown people.
Thanks to the apparition of the « chatting online » wave, new companies decided to launch new concepts. They were literally selling love. They created website where the concept is to find the perfect match. Thanks to a perfect algorithm that is suppose to know better than you who and where is the love of your life.
We have different types of dating apps. There is free and pay ones. Then, we have different types of goals. There is also dating apps that are especially providing meeting people with same backgrounds or religion, Mektoub for example.
Other are providing a more « free » relationship, and non-serious one, « Adopte un mec » for example, show through their publicity that the goal of the application is absolutely not to find the love of your life but more the pleasure of one night. Nowadays, we can say that more than one-third of married couple met each other online ! Through dating apps but also basic social media such as Instagram or Twitter.
Those social media had a big impact on the way the world is seeing relationships. Actually, a study made by the MIT Technology Review shows that in the last 20 years, the heterosexual couple that met online grew from 10% to 30%, more incredible for same-sex couples which grew from 30% to more than 70%.
So finally, could we say it is a good revolution or a bad revolution ? It can be both, it is mainly a good revolution to me because it allows people who aren’t really social to meet other people, it allows to meet people all over the world, and I don’t think there’s anything bad to force the destiny, and find the love of your life online.
Love is beautiful and everywhere. It is not a shame to say that you met your love on Tinder. Swipe right and enjoy your life !
